I would like to highly recommend David Kellog. I have known David for the past three years and have seen him grow into a leader to both his Deaf and Hearing peers. He has been in both my special day class Deaf and Hard of Hearing English and Reading classes. He has progressed from an inexperienced freshman to a capable and independent young man.
David arrived at Laurent Clerc High School and immediately joined the Junior Varsity football team during the summer, even before school began. He was on the Junior Varsity football team for two years, and then played football for the Varsity team his junior year. He also participated in the school winter baseball team. David has no problem using any means available to communicate with adults and peers, either hearing or Deaf.
David has been a member of Junior National Association for the Deaf (JrNAD) at Laurent Clerc High School for three years. David was the Sergeant of Arms for JrNAD in 2001-2002. He brought a mature and enthusiastic leadership to our program.
I admire David's optimistic outlook. He is always interested in challenging both himself and his peers to do their best. David has tutored students in reading at a local elementary school and has received high commendations. He does not shy away from obstacles, but confronts them head on with a confident and "can do" attitude.
I highly recommend David Kellog. He will be a great asset.
Sincerely,
Binh Tran
